Faust Vrančić
(Faustus Verantius)
1551.(Šibenik) - 1617.(Venice)
A legendary (almost mythical) person of Croatian history, renneissance man, historian, politologist, inventor, writer and publisher. His most famous work is his parachute design, the "Homo Volans" (flying man). Another famous work of his is the five-language dictionary "Dictionarium quinque nobilissimarum Europae linguarum", one of the first dictionaries of that kind in the world. More about Faust Vrančić.

In Šepurine, next to the new church, is his summer house. His descendants, the Draganić-Vrančić, still live there. |

Following his will he was burried in the church in Luka. The gravestone was recently renovated, and there are plans of putting up a bronze bust of Faust in the church garden. |

There is a need to show the island's connection to Faust Vrančić, as a great man of both Croatian and Europaean history. For example, one year there was a model of Faust's parachute on display in Prvić Luka. Think about it, friends of Prvić, because any ideas would be welcome.
